Cultural Tyrol
Kultura 2012
Holidays and culture
A veritable feast of cultural events will help make your stay in the Tyrolean holiday region an unforgettable holiday experience. It is the special combination of culture and holiday leisure that brings together young and old and big and small alike with all their different needs and preferences.
Tyrolean Beethoven Days
from 12. to 19.05.2012
His name has not just been associated with brilliance throughout the history of music – he also produced some of the most spiritual music known to mankind: Ludwig van Beethoven. The K&K Philharmonic, under the direction of Matthias Georg Kendlinger, encounters and interprets the classic works of Beethoven and his contemporaries in a special ambiance at the Passion Play House in Thiersee.
Festival in Erl
from 05. to 29.07.2012
Mythical and mystical, tragic and funny, old and new – these are just a few
terms to describe the breadth of the programme of the Tyrolean Festival in Erl
in 2011. The variety provides an ideal combination of Wagner's operas and other
major works of German musical theatre: alongside Wagner's
"Tannhäuser", "Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg”
and "Parsifal", there will be two new opera productions on
stage at the Passion Play House, continuing the successful programme from the
previous year.

Operetta Summer in Kufstein
from 03. to 18.08.2012
It’s already been five years since the first time the Operetta Summer made its debut on stage. The refreshing productions and the enthusiasm of the artists have inspired audiences and the press alike, and ensured previous performances have been an extraordinary experience. In 2011 the festival is celebrating its 5th anniversary and satisfies listeners once again with a classic operetta in an impressive setting. The location for the Operetta Summer is in the Kufstein Fortress, which is one of Tyrol’s most imposing structures from the Middle Ages. The fortress’s courtyard, with its weatherproof roof, provides a one-of-a-kind location for a dry and acoustical sound experience.
From 29th July to 13th August, Emmerich Kálmán's operetta “The Circus Princess” will be playing.
A musical comes to Thiersee
from 7 to 15.09.2012
A total preparation time of 2 years is needed to put on the musical by SiXPACK & Friends. The idea was developed and realised by Hubert Schneider (who wrote the work), Stefan Thaler (the conductor) and the rest of the organisational team. The music has been taken from eight well-known musicals and has been adapted by Stefan Thaler to enable the 17-man orchestra to pull out all the stops. The score alone comprises 323 A3 pages! Preparatory work in various departments, such as masks, technology, choir, seamstress, choreography, set design and casts, is already underway or even completed in some cases. This musical planned in Thiersee will most certainly be a valuable addition to the existing cultural events in the Valley.
Passion Plays Erl
from 26.05. to 05.10.2013
Every six years, Erl dominates the Passion Plays by providing over 600 participants from the Erl community who convey the life and death of Jesus Christ through evocative images. The next passion play will take place in 2013, when Erl celebrates its 400th anniversary. In 1959, the extraordinary Passion Play House was opened. It fits well in the mountain scenery despite its striking architecture, and its acoustics are the work of a master.
