Hinterthiersee is located in Austria in the federal state of Tyrol in a quiet location approx. 20 minutes from the city Kufstein.
In order to make your arrival as comfortable and stress-free as possible, we’ve put together various information and tips for you.

- City of Kufstein (approx. distance 12km / Travel driving: approx. 20 minutes)
- Innsbruck (approx. distance 90km / Travel time: approx. 60 minutes)
- Munich (approx. distance 100km / Travel time: approx. 75 minutes)
- Salzburg (approx. distance 117km / Travel time: approx. 90 minutes)
- Bozen (approx. distance 200km / Travel time: approx. 2.5 minutes)
- Zurich (approx. distance 380km / Travel time: approx. 4.5 minutes)
Arriving by car:
From the north (D, NL, B, GB, etc.)
Take the A8 in the direction of Salzburg – at the Inntal-Dreieck intersection take the A93 in the direction of Kufstein
From the west (CH)
Take the A12 Inntalautobahn in the direction of Kufstein
From the east (Salzburg)
Travel via the Westautobahn A1 in the direction of Salzburg - via A8 in the direction Munich (München) – at the Inntal-Dreieck intersection take the A93 toward Kufstein
From the south (IT)
Take the A22 in the direction of Brenner - to the A13 toward Innsbruck – and the A12 Inntalautobahn in the direction of Kufstein
Panorama journey from Munich
During nice weather or when the traffic situation allows it, it is highly recommended that you take a panorama trip through the German lake region: departure from Weyarn via Miesbach, Lake Schliersee, Bayrischzell, Landl and Lake Hinterthiersee.
Autobahn vignette or toll-road sticker
When driving on the Austrian motorways (Autobahnen) it is required that you
have a vignette sticker, a toll-road sticker on your car. The vignette can be
bought at border crossings at petrol stations and at many motor clubs.

Vignette-free travel option to Lake Thiersee
If you’d like to make your journey to Thiersee without having to buy a vignette, it’s no problem – follow the main road (Bundesstrasse) to Kufstein and on to Thiersee.
The ASFINAG-Service Center has also notified us of a second option:
The
toll-requirement in Austria on all motorways and high speed roads applies upon
crossing the border and includes the section between Kiefersfelden to
Kufstein-Süd (south). For this reason, in principle you will also be required to
have a vignette for this section of road. However, the section between the
Kiefersfelden border and Kufstein south will not be policed until further
notice.

Arriving by train and by bus (Kufstein Train Station):
A relaxed journey so you can enjoy your holidays as soon as you leave your home – that is advantage of travelling by train. You can forget about irritating holiday traffic jams, winter tyres, snow chains and all the route planning. Choose your train connection and just board! With the OEBB (Austrian Federal Railway) online timetable you can plan your journey to the Kufstein holiday area in advance. You will arrive at the station in Kufstein and from there take the ideal bus connections to our resort town. Kufstein is an Austrian and German border station, at which all high-speed and intercity trains stop.
