Monday - Tai Chi in Thiersee, Gathering Mediterranean herbs

Tai Chi in Thiersee (until October 21)

Tai Chi (literally: the ultimate principle) is an ancient Chinese combat and movement martial art which has been used over hundreds of years for the purposes of self-defence, health and long life and was developed for spiritual reasons. It consists of harmonious, flowing movements involving the whole body which are carried out in a relaxed manner and in slow motion. During a circuit around Lake Thiersee, our trainer Harald (who was also trained in China) will introduce you to the art of Tai Chi using various exercises (no prior knowledge required). Clothing: suitable for the weather, as relaxed as possible.

The small herb garden by Lake Thiersee is well worth a visit. There are many herbs to explore here. Our expert offers insight into the use of herbs and some of their healing effects. We then use the herbs we have collected to cook up a delicious dish.

Tuesday - Mountain walk on the Pendling, Herb walk, ‘Zum Messerschmid’ distillery

Climbing Thiersee’s 1,432m mountain, the Pendling. You will be rewarded for your efforts with magnificent views from the summit cross over the Inntal valley to the Kaisergebirge, Kufstein and Bavaria as well as a hearty snack or some famous roast pork from the ‘Kufsteinerhaus’ mountain guesthouse.

We pay a visit to Christine the energy specialist, phytotherapist and ‘herb witch’ in her herb garden. Together we experience a journey into the diverse kingdom of herbs. You will learn how you can take advantage of the healing effects and abundance of greenery in the plant world for improved health and well-being with some simple and practical applications.

Delicious drops and Tyrolean schnapps culture: visit Albert Schmider at his carefully restored farmhouse which dates back almost 500 years. Enjoy a talk about the continuation of an old family tradition – schnapps distilling. Find out more about the history, technique and senses used. And of course, afterwards there is a chance to sample and purchase these delicious drops!

Wednesday - Road World Championships, Glemmbachklamm gorge, Archery, NATURESPONSE®, SUP

Anyone who has ever sat on a racing bike, powering through the landscape and feeling the burn in every single limb, will know just how much happiness these light-framed bikes can bring. Everyone – whatever their fitness level - is welcome to take part in this guided biking tour of Kufsteinerland, following in the bike tracks of the professionals. The length of the tour and altitude can be adapted to the group in question.

Walking through a natural treasure – the Glemmbachklamm gorge (until September, 16)

An impressive showcase of nature – wild, crashing water accompanies us on this gorge walk. Discover a slice of untouched nature and walk through this beautifully cool and impressive gorge – a natural treasure which remains untouched from any building work. Good fitness levels and steady footing are essential for this tour. The Glemmbachklamm walk is not possible when water levels are elevated.
As an alternative, we offer a walk through the charming Giessenbachklamm gorge in neighbouring Bavaria. (Meeting point 10.00 at Thiersee tourist office).

Archery – on the trail of Robin Hood (until October, 15)

Concentration and a steady hand are required to hit the bullseye. At the Rueppenhof campsite, you can learn about instinct in archery.

Lakes and forest walk – impulses with ‘NATURE-SPONSE®’
Kufstein
10:00 am until 2:00 pm; meeting point: Parking at the Längsee (below "Marblinger-Höhe"), free of charge

As part of the search to find yourself, we use the renowned ‘NATURESPONSE®’ key method to acquire ‘feedback’ from nature. Gain spontaneous internal insight, drawing on the attentiveness and perception of trees which exert an attraction on our subconscious. Nature and the forest in particular open up a doorway onto ourselves and our current situation in life. Enjoy some deliberate time-out, surrounded by the protection of the forest.

Sundown SUP – try out stand up paddling for free on Lake Thiersee (from July, 18 until August, 8)

Try the trendy sport of stand-up paddling, free-of-charge! Instructors from ‘Active Spirit’ are on hand to provide test boards. The event will not go ahead in the event of bad weather.

Thursday - Yoga by the lake, Kaisergebirge nature experience, Night watchman tour

Greet the morning with yoga by the lake (July and August)

This morning is all about a gentle awakening with the balancing and energising energy of yoga. The exercises are suitable for both beginners and experienced yogis. Please ask your doctor whether yoga would be recommended for you if you suffer from any health complaints or pre-existing medical conditions.
Please bring your own mat. These can also be obtained from the Thiersee tourist information office.

Kaisergebirge nature experience

Set off in search of nature with the Kaisergebirge nature experience. The Kaiserlift Kufstein runs from the nearby fortress town of Kufstein up 1,200m into a truly imperial, natural environment. Track down the secrets of the Kaisergebirge peaks. Explore the many facets of the Kaisergebirge nature experience. It’s about much more than just walking – explore and be amazed. Herbs. Insects. Trees. Tracks. Qi Gong. Senses. Meadows. The various guided walks with our experts offer some surprising insight into the nature protection area. Everyone is welcome to explore, observe and investigate the Kaisergebirge for free from May to October, whether old or young. Night watchman tour

Our night watchman will guide you through the historic alleyways of the fortress town of Kufstein with a lantern, cloak and halberd, sharing stories from times gone by. This is no classic town tour, like the one we offer on Friday.

Friday - Walk into the Kaisertal valley, Slowing down and ‘forest bathing’, City tour

We start out from the ascent into the Kaisertal valley – with 345 steps and an altitude difference of approx. 110m to conquer. However your efforts will be rewarded with magnificent views over the town of Kufstein and the local Pendling mountain. Once at the top, you can admire the famous picture book panorama. The highlights of the walk include the cosy, traditional guesthouses, the idyllically located Antonius chapel and unique views of the Wilder and Zahmer Kaiser. We take a rest at a romantic mountain stream and find out all about the Alpine fauna and flora.

Slowing down and ‘forest bathing’ in the Modalwald forest

10:00 am until approx. 2:00 pm; Meeting point: Dorfplatz Hinterthiersee, free of charge

We walk along the edge of the captivating mountain village of Hinterthiersee, via the Breitenau with its powerful stone labyrinth and through the Modalwald forest. After a few forest Qi Gong exercises, we engage in some ‘forest bathing’ – deliberately taking in the forest atmosphere – using the power of the terpenes (scents emitted by conifer trees) to reduce stress, boost the immune system and support good health. We finish the walk with a slowed down 'walking meditation'.
Tip: As we will be sitting in the forest, the walking guide recommends bringing some warm clothing with you (jacket etc.)

Conquering the historic fortress town

Kufstein was promoted to the status of town 600 years ago and has a long-standing history which revolves around Kufstein fortress. During the tour, the guides will tell of civic life, the significance of the river Inn, the battles over the fortress and new developments and inventors.

Go hiking and learn something new in the Kaisergebirge conservation area high above Kufstein. Look forward to free guided hikes featuring 17 different themes!

Are you interested in plants, their appearance and their effects?

A plant hike to the "alpine chemist's shop" at the Berghaus Aschenbrenner is perfect for you! Or would you like to take in springtime? At 1,200 m above sea level, you can through May. Are you interested in learning more about the forest biosphere or getting a closer look at the mystery of trees? Or maybe our local orchids have piqued your interest? We have guides who are well trained in these topics and many more!

Want to get things moving?

Learn more about hunting or go tracking yourself! You can also explore the wonderful world of insects and find out more about flower pollination. Plus, a look at life in an ant colony is especially interesting.

Athletic and action-packed

Go on a treasure hunt and get bitten by the geocaching bug! Or take a closer look at nature with binoculars and a magnifying glass.

A little more leisurely ...

... are hikes where you can use all of your senses. Gain knowledge of the five Chinese elements in nature. Hikes with Qi Gong exercises are especially relaxing.

Eleven guides are available this year, each one a specialist in their area. Let them escort you through a world of details and enjoy 3 to 4 special hours outdoors. This year, these free hikes have even more variety than ever before. In addition to morning hikes which start from the valley station at 9:00 am, there are also some afternoon hikes that begin at 13:00 pm, giving you enough time to reach the cable car for the last trip down to the valley at 16:30 pm.

Monday - Snowshoe hike, herbalism, distillery

Strap on your snow shoes and head out into nature: the walk leads around the romantic Lake Thiersee which has always been an energy centre in the region. The walk may be extended, depending on the snow conditions and stamina of the group and may also lead on via the Dreibrunnenjoch. In poor snow conditions, we will go higher towards Lake Hinterthiersee.

Discover the power of herbs with ‘herb witch’ Christine

You can also boost your immune system with herbs and healing plants in winter. Christine from the ‘Kräuterwelt Thierseetal’ world of herbs offers insight into the wide range of healing possibilities and means of boosting the body with healing plants from our region. Christine is a herb expert and knows that there is a herb to treat every ailment. All participants have the chance to make their own personal blend of herbal teas, tailored to their own personal requirements.

Tuesday - Walk into the Kaisertal valley, treasures of summer, evening snowshoe hike

A dreamy walk into the Kaisertal valley – named the ‘most beautiful spot in Austria in 2016’

We set out from the Kaisertal ascent. 345 steps and an altitude difference of approx. 110 metres to overcome. The effort of climbing the steps is rewarded with magnificent views of the town of Kufstein and its local Pendling mountain. The idyllically situated Antoniuskapelle chapel and breath-taking views of the Wilder and Zahmer Kaiser are among the unforgettable highlights of this walk. And you can also stop off for a refreshment break at one of the cosy guesthouses in the Kaisertal valley, if you wish.

Enjoy the treasures of summer in winter

During a short walk along Lake Thiersee, which freezes over in winter, we get in the mood for an enjoyable afternoon. We use herbs collected over the summer months to prepare tea but these healing plants can be put to a range of other uses too. And herb expert Maria provides some valuable wellbeing tips over a cup of tea. And of course, you can have a taste!

Evening snowshoe hike

Promotes good sleep and digestion! Equipped with a headlamp and snowshoes, we set out into the romantic winter night. The snow crunching beneath our feet when we stomp across the snow-covered fields. A hike through the Tyrolean winter night is something truly special.

Wednesday - Snow shoe walk, torch-lit walk

The Riedenberg in the Thierseetal valley is a natural energy centre. The Riedenberg impresses in particular with its picture postcard idyllic scenery at the heart of the untouched natural environment. From here, you can walk in snow shoes to the mystical stone circle where we celebrate a winter fumigation ritual. A stop off at the Berggasthof Wastler guesthouse is also a must.

‘Fire, Ice & Liquid Gold’ – torch-lit walk around the lake
7:00 pm until 9:00 pm, starts at the information office in Vorderthiersee, free of charge
(except honey mulled wine or honey kids'punch)

This romantic walk leads around Lake Thiersee, lit by torchlight. Savour the clear winter air, the tranquillity, the romantic sparkling of the lake in the torch light and the bright glow of the fire. To warm up, we visit the Tiroler Bienenalm and enjoy a hot honey mulled wine or honey kids’punch.

Thursday - Tai Chi, winter hike, nightwatchman tour

Tai Chi (literally: highest principle) is an ancient Chinese martial art. The movements were developed for self defense, health, longevity and spiritual reasons. Tai Chi consists of harmonious, flowing whole body movements, which are carried out in slow motion. Different movements are made into a sequence. Our instructor Harald, who also trained in China, will incorporate lots of simple movements into the walk. Experience an introduction to the art of Tai Chi.
No prior knowledge required.

Winter hike to the Thierberg Chapel
10:30 am until 2:30 pm, starting from the information office in Kufstein, free of charge
As soon as we've left Kufstein, we'll head into the quietness of the wintry forest and hike uphill, past the wayside cross stations to the old, romantic Thierberg-Chapel – a pilgrimage chapel with hermitage and a unique, old nativity scene. We scale the stairs up to the donjon and enjoy the splendid panoramic views across Kufstein and Inntal Valley. On the way back, well circle Lake Hechtsee located amidst the enchanting winter scenery and after a short break set off to the starting point.

Nightwatchman tour – a guided city walk of the special kind!

With a lantern, cloak and halbert, our nightwatchman will lead you through Kufstein fortress town, steeped in history, telling many a story from times gone by. This walk is a classic guided city tour (see programme on Wednesday), during which you'll learn many interesting facts about Tyrolean customs and legends from Tyrol.

Friday - Tour of the town, Qi Gong hike

Kufstein became a town over 600 years ago and looks back at a long history as a town which has always been centred around Kufstein fortress. During the tour, city guides talk about the life of the town’s citizens, the significance of the river Inn, the battle for the fortress and new developments and discoveries.

Qi Gong hike

The Qi Gong hike leads us through the winter scenery around Hinterthiersee, allowing us to recharge our batteries and relieve any blockages. The energetic method hailing from China helps us to bring body, mind and soul into harmony and unison.

Kufstein was promoted to the status of town 600 years ago and has a long-standing history which revolves around Kufstein fortress. During the tour, the guides will tell of civic life, the significance of the river Inn, the battles over the fortress and new developments and inventors.

Become more aware of your own body. Nordic walking is the perfect, healthy way to get your body moving again. It relieves tension, activates muscles, promotes the breakdown of fat and improves metabolism. And it does it all in the healthy Tyrolean air! By using your arms and upper body, circulation in your shoulders, neck and arms improves, making this activity a healthy total-body exercise.

Every Tuesday and Friday morning from June to October. Free for Juffing guests. As the number of participants is limited, we kindly ask you to register by 12:00 pm the day before.
