KULTURA 2024
For decades, plays, readings and music have been performed live here each summer – both at the fortress as well as in the chic Festspielhaus. An interesting fusion of nature and culture in the middle of the Alps inspires visitors enjoying a “lazy summer” under the shade of an umbrella.
Creative artists create space for conversation, well-being and reflection.

Events around Thiersee
Curtain up! Kufsteinerland offers countless opportunities and extra activities to help you enjoy first-class cultural events – from the Tyrolean Festival in Erl to the Musicalsommer festival at Kufstein Fortress – to the fullest.

Since 1799, the small town of Thiersee has put on a traditional Passion Play. Every six years, the residents of Thiersee bring the last days of Christ’s life to the stage in a grand way. The last performance took place from June to October 2022 with the help of 250 Thierseers of all ages. The next Thiersee Passion Play will be held in 2028. Learn more here.
Located just a 30-minute drive from Thiersee, the village of Erl is the oldest passion play location in the German-speaking region. Since 1613, around 600 amateur actors from Erl’s 1,450 residents have performed the passion play there every six years as an offer of thanks for God’s protection and help from illness, plague and the danger of war! The next Passion Play in Erl will be held in 2025 at the Passion Play House. Built exclusively for the performance of the Passion Play, this venue accommodates up to 1,500 visitors and features unique architecture and acoustics. The script was revised by Felix Mitterer.
