Hiking through Tyrolean farms, Kramsach

In the open air museum you will find buildings of old Tyrolean folk architecture. A tour will take you back to the life and work of days long past that dominated life in Tyrol for a long time. Fourteen farms from the different valleys of Tyrol have been rebuilt here, including their gardens and ponds with small animals, farm outbuildings, alps and chapels.

Middle Ages in Rattenberg

Walk through the picturesque small town at the Inn river with its ancients streets and the medieval cityscape, visit the fortress ruin at the castle mountain. The glass specialist shops there are especially worth visiting - a unique opportunity to look over the shoulders of glass blowers, cutters and painters at their creative work.

Organic cheese dairies in Niederndorf

Many guests ask for regional organic products. We recommend the BIO organic cheese dairy Hatzenstädt in Niederndorferberg where cheese has been produced for over 70 years GMO-free and without additives and the cattle of the mountain farmers only get organic food (also open on Sunday mornings, per car via Kufstein, Ebbs, then towards Walchsee and in the village part of Sebi towards the left up to Aschau in 20 min). Or you stop already earlier on the route in Niederndorf and visit the rock cellar of the BIO cheese dairy Plangger that is known far and wide for its organic hay milk cheese specialties. And those who would like to can make a detour to the nearby wildlife park!

Events around Thiersee

The stage is set! The Kufsteinerland offers innumerable possibilities and entertainment programmes to be able to enjoy top-class cultural events in a relaxed way - from the Tyrol Festival in Erl to the Summer of operettas on the Kufstein fortress.

Passion Plays Thiersee & Erl
Thiersee with hills and meadow

Since 1799, the traditional Passion Plays Thiersee have been performed in our small village. Every six years, the population of Thiersee stages the last days in the life of Christ in an impressive way. From June to October 2022, it's time again and over 250 inhabitants of all ages from Thiersee will contribute towards this big spectacle. Experience an impressive manifesto for tradition and faith when a whole village enters the stage together. More information on the dates and ticket prices can be found here

Also the municipality of Erl as the oldest Passion Play town in the German-speaking countries invites you to its Passion Plays about 30 minutes from Thiersee! Since 1613, every six years (i.e. the next performance will be in 2025) around 600 amateur acteurs of the 1450 inhabitants reenact the Passion Play in gratefulness of God's protection and help with sickness, plague and the danger of war. The Passion Play theatre can seat 1500 visitors and was solely erected for the Passion Plays with its unique architecture and acoustics. The text was edited by Felix Mitterer. More infos can be found here
